BOQ Specialist and ADA NSW award $5,000 recent graduate bursary

Sydney, 19 September 2018

A Taree dentist committed to remaining in rural practice has been awarded the inaugural ADA NSW BOQ Specialist Recent Graduate Bursary.

Dr. Jenny Hong was named the winner of the bursary during the Australian Dental Association New South Wales Branch (ADA NSW) Convention Gala Dinner on Saturday 15 September, receiving $5,000 to undertake courses at the ADA NSW Centre for Professional Development.

In making the announcement, Tony Kalmin of BOQ Specialist described Dr. Hong as “a deserving winner”.

“Over the past 18 months, she has undertaken 16 CPD courses and has identified a range of courses she would like to do to gain more professional knowledge and experience,” Mr Kalmin said. “We congratulate her and look forward to seeing her career develop.”

ADA NSW President, Dr. Neil Peppitt, said the bursary – the first to be offered in partnership with BOQ Specialist – would provide financial support to a recent graduate “who has a clear career path and has already demonstrated a serious commitment to lifelong learning”.

Dr. Peppitt said the calibre of bursary applicants was extremely high.

Dr. Hong graduated from the University of Sydney in 2016 and worked at the Sydney Dental Hospital before moving into private practice in Taree, on the mid-north coast.

“We have so many ways we can improve the lives of our patients, so I feel there will always be further training and education I need to complete to deliver the highest quality of care to my patients,” she said in her application.

Dr. Hong thanked ADA NSW and BOQ Specialist for the opportunity to undertake further CPD courses.
