Scam alert
October 2024
BOQ Specialist are aware of a new scam involving customers receiving phone calls from scammers posing as BOQ Specialist employees. In these calls, scammers request the customer’s personal information and one-time verification code. Once the code has been provided to the scammer, they’re able to make fraudulent purchases using the customer’s account.
What to look out for and how to protect yourself:
- BOQ Specialist will never contact you asking to confirm a verification code or one time pin.
- Never disclose verification codes to a third party even if they claim to be from a trusted company.
- If you receive an unexpected call from someone claiming to be BOQ Specialist or another authority and asking for personal details or account information, hang up the call immediately and call the organisation back via the details on our Contact Us page.
- If you receive a verification code you weren’t expecting, contact BOQ Specialist immediately using the details on our Contact Us page.
- If you believe your account details or card details have been disclosed to a scammer or you notice any unauthorised transactions, contact us immediately via the details on our Contact Us page
